One of the most celebrated equestrian events in the world, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, is almost here!

Taking place April 24th to April 27th, 2014, this annual event at the Kentucky Horse Park brings the crème de la crème of the three-day eventing sport to the Bluegrass. Along with exhibitions, a trade fair, and world-class equestrian sport, Kentucky Horse Park http://kyhorsepark.com will also present the 2014 Kentucky Reining Cup, for two FEI competitions in one weekend.

This makes Rolex weekend a unique opportunity for equestrian enthusiasts to witness top horse and rider teams competing in two very different sports. For the first time ever at the Kentucky Reining Cup, elite reining teams will be strutting their stuff in hopes of securing a spot to represent the United States at the 2014 World Equestrian Games. And on Friday night, the Kentucky Reining Cup Team Challenge will pit reining teams against one another for $50,000 in prize money. It promises to be a night of hot competition for these world-class equestrians.

And for the eventing crowd, there will be plenty to keep spectators busy. This four-star event, the highest level of eventing competition, draws more than 60,000 spectators, many of whom come with empty suitcases for the goodies they’ll be picking up at the trade fair! The equestrian trade fair, a part of Rolex Kentucky since 1976, attracts vendors large and small with everything from horse wear to saddlery to novelty items and souvenirs. It’s an equestrian candy store, with something for everyone.

When they aren’t being tempted by new tack, spectators will be watching dressage, cross-country, and stadium-jumping rounds by the sport’s elite. As the only four-star event in the Western Hemisphere, visiting Rolex Kentucky affords North and South American fans their only opportunity to see this highest level of competition without traveling to Europe or Australia. Horse and rider teams at Rolex are often former or future Olympians, all competing for $250,000 in prize money, and a chance at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, awarded to any rider who manages to win the events at Rolex Kentucky, Badminton, and Burghley in succession.
