Spring Fever: Top 3 Horse Shows to Attend This Season

Spring is here (at least, the meteorologists say so) and it’s time to start thinking about horse shows. Not just the ones you’re planning on competing in, but the ones you want to go see! Horse shows are a great spectator sport, so let’s look at three big shows coming this spring that you won’t want to miss.

1. Rolex Kentucky Three-Day-Event

This annual event is the only five-star three-day-event in North America, and it heralds the beginning of eventing’s upper-level season. Rolex Kentucky routinely draws top competitors from around the world to face the sprawling cross-country course at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, plus compete in dressage and show jumping in its beautiful stadiums. The event also includes a trade show and retail village full of goodies, making this a shopping destination for many equestrians.

Where: Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY
When: April 23-26, 2015

2. Equine Affaire

Not so much as a horse show as a trade show and exhibition for equestrians from every discipline, Equine Affaire makes its spring appearance in Columbus, Ohio, each year, and brings with it a full roster of clinicians, demonstrations, manufacturers, even artists and writers. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the latest products, gussy up the tack room, meet with friends, and learn a thing or two from some of the biggest names in horse training. This year’s event includes presentations from Jane Savoie, Nona Garson, Chris Cox, and John Lyons, among many others.

Where: Ohio Expo Center, Columbus, OH
When: April 9-12, 2015

3. FEI World Cup Finals: Show Jumping and Dressage

One of the biggest horse shows in the world comes to Las Vegas this spring. The FEI World Cup Finals welcomes top show jumpers and dressage riders from around the world, who have been competing for qualifying points for the past show season. You’ll see the world’s best in Las Vegas, and of course you’ll have an opportunity to shop favorite equestrian brands and designs in the World Cup Finals Gift Show. Putting the finals in Las Vegas also offers a unique opportunity to combine a vacation destination with a horse show — it’s a work trip, really!

Where: Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV
When: April 15 – April 19, 2015
